Michael Bjornbak, DDS
I love what I do! As a dentist, I get to learn about the latest technologies and treatment techniques, and utilize them to ensure the most efficient and effective care for my patients. Sometimes, giving a patient an amazing smile changes their life by giving them the confidence to smile more. I am grateful to have the gift of giving people beautiful, healthy smiles, and my patients always inspire me to do my best in my work.
Education and Continuing Education
I graduated from the UCLA School of Dentistry in 1987, but I have never stopped learning about dentistry. The state requires I take 50 hours of continuing education every two years, but I typically take around 200 hours every two years.
My advanced coursework includes training in implants, Invisalign® clear orthodontic aligners, cosmetic dentistry, and sedation dentistry. I always keep abreast of the best treatments in order to provide my patients with truly personalized treatments that meet their needs. As part of my continuing education, I am active in the following professional organizations:
- Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation
- Sunrise Dental Solutions
- American Association for Cosmetic Dentistry
- Crown Council
- International Association for Orthodontics
In the Practice
I have been practicing dentistry since 1987, and couldn't imagine doing anything else. I am passionate about using the latest treatments to benefit my patients. For the comfort of my patients, I give the option of utilizing sedation dentistry, which they really appreciate. Advances in cosmetic dentistry and implants have allowed me to help my patients attain the beautiful, healthy smiles they have always dreamed of.
I decided at nine years old I wanted to be a dentist. When my dentist left the treatment room, I started to check out his instruments and play with them. From then on, I was hooked, and I always told adults that I wanted to be a dentist when I grew up. I love the combination of art and science, and using my skills to help my friends and neighbors.
I know that my patients are looking for the most efficient and effective treatments, but they also want a positive dental experience. My team and I love getting to know our patients and making them feel right at home. All of my staff are very personable and treat our patients in a very friendly manner. Because of their frequent laughter and unending compassion, we have a friendly, easy going environment in our office. My team is especially good at putting our patients at ease, no matter what procedure we are doing. I know you'll love coming to visit us!
Family and Community
I grew up in Calabasas, and love serving the people of my hometown. My wonderful wife, Sheila, and I have a beautiful young daughter, Annika, who keeps us busy and laughing. When I am not in the practice, I enjoy photography, scuba diving, kayaking, hiking, swimming, and of course playing with baby Annika.
I am also active in our community, and am in a member and contributor to the California Wildlife Center. Every year I contribute my photography to help raise money for this animal rehabilitation center. I am also involved in the Crown Council, which is a dental group that has raised more than $30 million for the needy, including St. Jude's Children's hospital.
